Calling Upon Jehovah - Why So Important?
The Divine Name King James Bible is accomplishing its work. Bible readers everywhere are reporting with great enthusiasm that they are happy to see the name Jehovah, all throughout the King James, especially so since the King James Bible is so trusted and widely read. It is important to call out to the Almighty God using his name because it is the way we treat those we love intimately. It would not be right to know someone's name and then avoid it at all cost, would it? Therefore we use God's name, the best way we know how, and how true that is because even if we are deaf and have never heard anyone say it, we will sign God's name. Nothing can stop us from loving our Creator!
We must only wonder though if anyone would even care at all about God's name Jehovah if it had not been preserved in the King James in at least those 4 wonderful places. Should we be grateful to the Divine Name Publishers for restoring the Divine Name to the Authorized King James Bible? No! That would not be right for we have no authority or cause for boasting except that Christ Jesus our Lord is the one that set the example before us all to make that name known. For the Bible says about Jesus, at John 17:26: "And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them."
Jesus is the Champion of God's Divine Name and he made it known during the time he was on Earth. Since the Old Testament clearly shows God's name in it 6972 times then why was that even necessary for Jesus to make God's name known? From the time of the 3rd century before Christ unfaithful Jewish religious leaders made pronouncing the name Jehovah a sin. While it may not be considered a sin by most people today, the reality is that the name Jehovah is not even considered essential knowledge for Christians. After all of Christ's apostles died, supposedly using authority in the name of Christ―those entrusted with copying the Scriptures AGAIN removed God's name from all the manuscripts in their possession.
It has been 1900 years since then, so WE ASK, what of those bearing witness to Jesus today? Have they been courageous in manifesting the name of God as Jesus did and still does? All Christians, by definition, claim Jesus as Lord so does it not make sense that they ought to be doing as he did? IF we have known that God's name is Jehovah, then it may very well be that we bear community responsibility for the fact that God's name has been forgotten, if we have not been telling others about it. There is not one of us that are not being "chastened" because our of the fact that our forefathers removed God's name and thus now it has been forgotten by the millions and millions claiming to bear witness to the Lord Jesus. If we imitate Christ and not those who have sidestepped this issue then "it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness" for those that "are exercised thereby." Hebrews 12:10-12:
For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. For a certainty, using God's name builds faith in the Almighty God and is something we want to do!
Even though we see that men did remove God's name from the Bible, we opinion that it is the work of God's enemy, Satan, the Devil, that the Divine Name has been hidden and tucked away for centuries. Did Jehovah permit this? Yes, of course. In all these times long past, was it completely unknown? No. Nevertheless, there has been a forgetting of the Divine Name and Jehovah knows it and has spoken out against this kind of thing. (Jeremiah 23:25-27
) Jehovah has always warned his creatues that misuse of free will brings us into opposition to Him and places us on "slippery places." (Psalm 73:18
) How slippery is this ground? Very slippery—and this is especially clear among 'religious' people of the world. Foremost among God's opposers is of course Satan, and he is transforming himself into an Angel of Illumination and has raised up shepherds that have misled people into doing heinous things in the name of Jesus Christ, that is, in the name of Christianity, and also through Islam and Judaism, in the name of, God and Lord and Allah. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15
) (2 Corinthians 4:4
) These once holy expressions have now sadly become tarnished, as they are shouted as the authority and the ralleying cry of those spilling the blood of innocents for thousands of years before our time, and now, in two World Wars, and the terrorism of our modern times. How then are those worshipping the God of Abraham to overcome such shameful things?
In our times there yet remains the name Jehovah, the name of the God of Abraham, that now steps forward untarnished. At John 17:11 notice Jesus' own request of Jehovah when he prayed: "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."
The Apostle Peter, with the support of all the other 11 apostles, made sure that the people seeking repentance and a relationship with the Lord Jesus did not underestimate the value of calling upon the Divine Name. When the Holy spirit was poured out upon the Jews at Pentecost Peter quoting from Joel 2:32 said these words at Acts 2:21, 39
. Starting at verse21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD,( Jehovah Jol 2:32 ) shall be saved. continuing at vs. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lordthe LORD,( Jehovah Jol 2:32 ) our God shall call.
With these two eyewitnesses, we can say with assurance, that it is the will of Jesus, and the belief of his disciples, that God's own Name should be used by all those following, Jesus as the Christ, since Christ ask this of Jehovah for our unification, and especially with the world in chaos, for our protection.
There is certainly ample justification to urge everyone to call upon the Divine Name, don't you agree?
